# FAQ

# Why should I use this app? What are the key differentiators?

Following are the key reasons why anyone should go for this app.

  • It is a privacy-first app based on the principle of program goes to where the data is as againist the traditional other way around.
  • The card images captured by the user, either using the device camera or picking from the gallery, never leaves the device for either storing or processing.
  • The text is extracted automatically from the image locally on the device with utmost accuracy, thereby saving a significant effort in typing the text.
  • Additionally it also allows to manually extract text in smaller parts of the images.
  • Data stored as natural text and in a single field. User is allowed to enter upto 1KB of text as part of the image without any restrictions of form fields/validation. This is to allow a hassle-free data entry without restrictions on how many phone number or email or links to be stored with the card. As long as the length of the text is kept within 1KB, it will allow any text.
  • Keyword based instant search. User is free to edit and enter any keywords to make it appear in search.
  • Easy-to-use data management ability to take backups and restore from it. The backups are also portable. Also the data can be exported to a human readable format(PDF).

# Is it free? What is the revenue model? Is there any upper limit for the number of cards allowed?

The app is 100% free. The app has Ads in it, and revenue obtained through the ads is used for sustainable support. Regarding the upper limit, the app doesn't enforce any built-in limit for storing the number of cards. However, we have tested it for ~1000 cards on a device with 2GB RAM. Beyond this, it may slow down the search and the backups may grow large.

# What are the languages supportd?

For now, only English language is supported. Based on the market demand, we will consider adding support for other languages as well.

No. Your cards cannot be accessed by any other apps. However, as part of the actions, it shares the appropriate data with the target apps. For example, for phone action, it shares phone number with the Phone app. This will be unser-initiated sharing and is visible to the user.

# How accurate is the image to text conversion?

It is highly accurate even for a reasonable quality image. The accuracy may deteriorate if the image is blur and text exists in many blocks and are varying in size. In such cases the text can be extracted in smaller blocks by manually clipping the smaller blocks from the image.

# Why the data is stored as natural text and not structured?

First of all, the data is not meant for sharing with other apps, therefore we believe as long as it is not meant for interoperability, it is not necessary that data should be structured. The user is given full freedom to edit the data without any restrictions except that the max length is 1Kb. The app uses advanced AI techniques to identify actionable text(phone number, email, website links). This allows a certain level of obfuscation in data so that it cannot be aggregated easily by any external programs thereby alleviate the privacy risk.

# Can I add categories to my cards?

Keep It Silly and Simple - this is our motto. The app is meant for personal use and we believe a simple keyword search would be sufficient for day to day use. However if there is a need to
categorize, the user can edit the cards and add category tags such as #friends #family #clients etc at their will and make those cards appear while searching.

# Does it recognize handwritten text?

It may with lesser accuracy, it solely depends on how legible is the text. Generally, it is not accurate enough to rely on.

# When I get a phone call, can I see the card image as caller identifier?

This app is not meant to be used as the device's contact manager. It is our deliberate attempt not to expose the cards to other apps which are permitted to access your device contacts. This will serve as your private contact manager app.
